1. A great introduction to one of the best Alaska National Parks, Kenai Fjords, is by going on the 2 main hikes offered in the park. The Exit Glacier Area is the only part that is accessible by road and here you will find the Exit Glacier Nature Center where you’ll find informative exhibits and a ranger for any and all questions. From here you can either choose to hike along the Glacier View Loop Trail or continue on to the Glacier Overlook Trail to get an up-close view of an actively receding glacier. The Harding Icefield is a longer, more challenging hike but well worth the effort to get up above Exit Glacier and look out over a vast expanse of ice and snow.
2. If you are looking to get out on the water to view Kenai Fjords’ stunning landscape and spot abundant wildlife, there are several boat tours and cruises available to take. The waters of Resurrection Bay and the Gulf of Alaska provide the opportunity to see towering tidewater glaciers pour down into the sea.
